For 120 years, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra has helped shape the sound of the city – and the many communities, places and people within it.
Open Score is a community composition project created as part of the MSO’s 120th anniversary, inviting the people of Melbourne, Victoria and beyond to contribute their own musical response to a shared theme: Sense of Place.
Open Score is open to anyone, of any age or background. No formal musical training is required. Music must be unperformed and not AI-generated.
Selected works will be recorded by MSO musicians and shared across our digital platforms – giving everyday composers the opportunity to hear their music brought to life by a world-class orchestra.
