The Teatro Real was the first theatre in the world to broadcast an opera in full over the social media Facebook. We have recorded and continue to record operas in 4k and are working on an upcoming recording in 8K technology. We broadcast operas via satellite to all sorts of different places around the world. We work hand in hand with major technological companies that have enabled the operas performed in our theatre to be viewed via virtual reality. We must use technology and information to help us face one of opera's greatest challenges: rejuvenating audiences. We must be able to draw new audiences and spawn new enthusiasts among our younger audiences.
