Selected speech

Diversity spurs interaction among civilizations, which in turn promotes mutual learning and their further development. For years, NCPA has always been guided by the principles of openness, inclusiveness, and shared interests. By absorbing the advanced experience of foreign and other Chinese theatres and learning from the achievements of outstanding cultures worldwide, NCPA has secured a sound takeoff in its endeavor to become a top theatre in the world. Through learning the successful experience of our counterparts, we have explored and managed to formulate a unique operation and management model, and achieved the balance between social and economic benefits; we have built a well-functioning programme production system featuring resident orchestra, chorus, opera singers and drama ensemble of our own, which ensures an average of 8 new productions annually and makes NCPA an utterly active institution for artistic production; we have adhered to a quality-oriented strategy to set up an international platform assembling artists and art troupes from home and abroad; we have established working relations with more than 400 international art organisations from over 130 countries and strategic partnerships with 33 international art organisations to carry out cooperation on such aspects as exchanges of performances and talent cultivation; we have insisted on branding and globalization as a national envoy who has toured Europe, North America, Oceania and other countries in Asia, forging "NCPA" a golden name card in the oversea cultural exchanges of China as well as the city of Beijing.
