Eduardo Méndez started playing violin in a Nucleo Project at the age of 5. He remained playing violin even when he moved back to Caracas with his family at the age of 13. He played in Chacao’s Nucleo in Caracas until he auditioned for the Simon Bolivar Orchestra and was accepted. He then played with the Orchestra until 2003 and participated in several international tours in America and Europe.

He graduated in law school in 2000 at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello and graduated as a magister in Public Policies at IESA in 2007. He was named by Maestro Jose Antonio Abreu as Executive Director of El Sistema in 2008 after 12 years of uninterrupted work alongside him.
