Mohamed Amine Kouider
The Algiers Opera House
Artistic Director
Born in Algiers in 1967, Mohamed Amine Kouider studied violin at the Conservatoire of Algiers and studied conducting at the Conservatoires of Marseille and Paris, then in Copenhagen. At the same time, he obtained a degree in musicology in Algiers. He has participated in advanced training courses as a conductor in several countries around the world. His dual culture and his degree in musicology enrich his sensitivity and allow him to take an interest in music from other cultural areas. His meeting with Valery Gergiev, of whom he was assistant conductor for three years in St. Petersburg, Rotterdam and New York, allowed him to become the heir to a great musical tradition and to evolve in a high-level artistic environment. He is regularly invited to conduct many renowned orchestras, in France and elsewhere in the world. A tireless ambassador for the rapprochement of cultures through music, his commitment has led him to conduct numerous non-profit and humanitarian concerts, which has earned him the title of "UNESCO Artist for Peace and Goodwill Ambassador". Since January 2017, Amine KOUIDER has been Artistic Director of the Opera of Algiers and conductor of the Symphonic Orchestra of the Algiers Opera.
