In 2003 Denis Makarov graduated from the Moscow State Conservatoire (class of Evgeny Kibkalo). Since 2002 Denis Makarov has been a soloist of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre.
He participated in the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theater tours in USA, South Korea, Latvia, Italy. In 2006 he took part in the world premiere of The Passenger by M. Weinberg (First SS-Man), and in new production of The Government Inspector·After the comedy·Opera by Roman Lvovich (The Mayor) at the stage of The Theatre of Nations, Moscow. In 2012 he performed the title part in Boris Godunov at the Ekaterinburg Opera. In November 2018 he joined the Bolshoi Theatre Opera Company. In 2019, he took part in Bolshoi’s tours to France, performing parts of Surin in The Queen of Spades and Prince Yuriy Tokmakov in The Maid of Pskov concert versions (conductor Tugan Sokhiev).
