XUE Qi

XUE Qi is Principal Cello of the China Broadcast National Orchestra. She started learning cello performance at a very young age. In 1985, she studied cello performance under professor FAN Zhigang of Xi’an Conservatory of Music. In the same year, she was admitted to the Xi’an Conservatory of Music to study cello performance with Professor SUN Peng. In college, she won many scholarships and participated in national-wide performances of the Xi'an Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra, and received praise.

She was admitted to the China Conservatory of Music in 1998, under the tutelage of Professor YU Mingqing, a famous cellist from the Central Conservatory of Music, and learned double bass performance with Professor HOU Junxia, a famous double bass player. She participated in many performances both at home and abroad and was granted a meeting by state leaders at The New Year’s tea party.

She graduated with honours in 2002 and was admitted to the China Broadcast Art Troupe. She is Principal Cello of the Troupe. She has visited many European and Asian countries, including Canada, Russia, South Korea, Japan, Germany, and Switzerland with the group. All of her performances were successful.
