The Algiers Opera House is a reference institution whose essential mission is to promote and broadcast lyrical, choreographic and orchestral, classical and contemporary art and to promote the creation and representation of works and all expressions related to the art of the stage.
Since its start-up in 2017, the Algiers Opera House, the fruit of the Algerian and Chinese friendship, has hosted major events related to the lyrical and choreographic heritage, of high artistic quality it also contributes to the formation, creation and representation of artistic works.
The Algiers Opera has three artistic ensembles that are: the National Symphony Orchestra, the National Andalusian Music Ensemble and the National Ballet, which are by their knowledge and their areas of expertise, the soul of the temple of art and culture.
The Algiers Opera Symphony Orchestra, is made up of about sixty professional musicians, graduates of Algerian and foreign music high schools and conservatories. Conducted by Maestro Amine Kouider, this seasoned orchestra has been working since its creation in 1992 to promote and disseminate classical and universal music. Its repertoire is based on a symphonic repertoire and opera works borrowed from universal composers, but also works drawn from Algerian music in its symphonic form.
The Andalusian Ensemble, is compounded with several orchestras such as the Women Ensemble, the Regional Ensemble of Algiers, Tlemcen and Constantine. The musicians hail from the three Andalusian music schools existing in Algeria, namely : El Gharnati of Tlemcen, Es-Sanaâ of Algiers and the Malouf of Constantine. The music played by the three Ensemble transcends the traditional cleavages of Andalusian music. With the challenge to make the Algerian “Nouba” a universal music. The balance and homogeneity which characterize the Andalusian Ensemble are obtained by a long musicological upstream research as well as by a deep knowledge of the Arab-Andalusian.
The Ballet of the Opera of Algiers, is composed of artists from the National Institute of Dramatic and Choreographic Arts, which has a wide repertoire of contemporary, modern and traditional academic dances. A true ambassador of Algerian culture in the field of choreography, he has represented Algeria in various artistic events around the world, and virtually every continent, some fifty countries, with the aim of making Algerian folklore known and appreciated.
