Lang Lang Studio established at NCPA Taihu Art Centre

On August 20th, Lang Lang Studio was officially established at the NCPA Taihu Art Centre. The Opening Ceremony was attended by, among others, WANG Ning, President of NCPA, LI Zhixiang and LI Jin, members of NCPA Leadership, ZHOU Tao, Convener of Taihu Performing Arts Town Arts Council, TANG Yiyuan, a member of Beijing Tongzhou District Standing Committee, LI Changli, Chairman of Beijing Investment Group, and Lang Lang, a world-class piano virtuoso, as well as United Nations Ambassador of Peace.

Lang Lang Studio was officially established at the NCPA Taihu Art Centre

Lang Lang forged an indissoluble bond with the NCPA upon its founding in 2007. From holding concerts to giving public-spirited master classes, and from working with world-renowned maestros, including Seiji Ozawa, Zubin Mehta and Dudamel, to cooperating closely with the China NCPA Orchestra frequently, Lang Lang has left brilliant footprints at the NCPA almost every year over the past 14 years. Such an indissoluble bond will continue as Lang Lang Studio is founded and running at the NCPA Taihu Art Centre.

At the ceremony, the guests first had an informal discussion under the theme, "Onward Together to Arts", chaired by LI Zhixiang, Vice President of NCPA.
 
President of NCPA WANG Ning congratulated Lang Lang for the studio. He said, "Today, Lang Lang Studio is officially established at the NCPA Taihu Art Centre, Taihu Performing Arts Town. That's a milestone event for us. In the future, I hope that the studio will grow into an art base for Master Lang Lang, and give birth to more wonderful ideas and excellent works; I also hope that the studio will become a base for art exchange to promote the excellent Chinese culture to the whole world and introduce the world's classical arts into China. After the establishment of Lang Lang Studio, more outstanding artists are welcome to the Taihu Performing Arts Town to build the most attractive culture and art museum open to all the citizens here so that more people love the culture, understand the culture, and integrate themselves into the culture."

As the first international piano virtuoso to join the Taihu Performing Arts Town, Lang Lang expressed his admiration for the high professionalism of the NCPA Taihu Art Centre. He said, "I feel particularly excited and honoured to locate my studio here. I hope that in the future, relying on the studio, I will offer master classes and hold other forms of public-spirited art popularisation events to show the audience at the sub-centre of Beijing the charm of classical music. Also, I expect that after COVID-19 comes under full control, more international music masters will be invited here for creation and cultural exchange to build a platform for domestic and foreign music and art exchanges with the Taihu Performing Arts Town as a bridge."

At the discussion, ZHOU Tao, Convener of Taihu Performing Arts Town Arts Council, TANG Yiyuan, a member of Beijing Tongzhou District Standing Committee, and LI Changli, Chairman of Beijing Investment Group, also gave speeches.

Zhou Tao said, "As a top pianist, Lang Lang has shown the great Chinese culture to the world, and demonstrated his elegant demeanour as an outstanding Chinese artist. I hope that Lang Lang will offer help to more music lovers, especially children, with the aid of the studio to erect a bridge of music so that they can find their own value and more beautiful worlds in music."

TANG Yiyuan said, "Music is an indispensable theme during the development of the Taihu Performing Arts Town. After joining us, Lang Lang, an international master, will add a strong touch to the popularisation of elegant art at the sub-centre and also further enhance the international visibility and influence of the town."

LI Changli said, "The establishment of Lang Lang Studio marks a major and solid step toward music development taken by the Taihu Performing Arts Town. I hope that Beijing Investment Group and NCPA will take this opportunity to give full play to the advantages of all parties in an effort to construct the Taihu Performing Arts Town into a new business card that carries the cultural charm of the sub-centre and model for Chinese characteristic towns."

Lang Lang performed three classical pieces

Then, the guests entered Lang Lang's studio, which is located in Building 4, NCPA Taihu Art Centre, where President of NCPA WANG Ning and Lang Lang unveiled the studio together. Lang Lang performed three classical pieces, including Goldberg Variations Highlights, Ode to the Yellow River and Chopin Waltzes. At the end of the ceremony, he gave his handprint to the studio.

As one of the world's largest and most versatile international stage art production and exchange platforms, the NCPA Taihu Art Centre plays an important role in stage art design and production, scenery, costume and property storage, and rehearsals. Also, it takes advantage of NCPA's resources to build a more influential comprehensive performing arts platform as an exemplary leader in the construction of the Taihu Performing Arts Town to present elegant art to the people working and living at the sub-centre of Beijing.
