2020 NCPA Taihu Art Centre International Forum kicked off

On September 21st, the 2020 Beijing International Design Week kicked off. The Beijing Design Forum was a key event for the Beijing International Design Week and held at the Arts Library of the NCPA from September 23rd to 25th. The 2020 NCPA Taihu Art Centre International Forum, co-host by Beijing International Design Week Organizing Committee, NCPA and China Institute of Stage Design, as one of the sub-forums, was held at the Arts Library of the NCPA on September 24th.
 
The 2020 NCPA Taihu Art Centre International Forum took the theme, "Stage of the 21st Century-Material and Virtuality", and was held online and offline simultaneously through keynote speeches delivered by Chinese and foreign guests and domestic guest talks. The theme, "Material and Virtuality" focuses on the frontiers of the current stage art field, and aims to inspire reflections on the theatre stage space and social life space, and how dramas can make a difference in social construction.
 
GAO Guangjian, Director of Stage Art of the NCPA and YANG Xiaojun, Associate Professor of Communication University of China presided over the forum. GUAN Jianbo, Director of the Stage Technology Department of NCPA, WANG Zhigang, Director of the Department of Information Art & Design of the Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University, Rolf Suhl, Vice Chairman of the Foundation Opera Berlin and General Manager of the Buehnenservice Berlin, and Italian multimedia designer Sergio Metalli shared their experiences in stage productions and multimedia. Additionally, Richard Hudson, a well-known British stage designer and costume designer, shared his personal works and creative concepts. The NCPA Classical Music Channel and many other online media platforms simultaneously broadcast the forum’s keynote speeches online.
 
As experts in the field of stage design and panelists, ZHANG Qingshan, Director of the Stage Art Department of Central Academy of Drama, MA Lu, Director of the Stage Art Department of the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts, MA Lianqing, Chief Stage Designer of China National Opera House, REN Dongsheng, Deputy Director of the Teaching Practice Center of Beijing Dancing Academy, LIU Feng, Director of the Stage Technology Teaching and Research Office of the Central Academy of Drama, discussed issues of common concern in the current stage art field. The forum also invited HU Zuo, deputy director of the Stage Art Department of Shanghai Theatre Academy, SHEN Li, lecturer of Shanghai Theatre Academy, LIANG Xiqing, president of the Guangdong Association of Stage Art, and LIU Jianzhen, Stage Technical Director of Guangzhou Opera House, to interact through online formats.
Thie forum discussed stage art productions, stage art designs, applications and development of multimedia technology and other content, focusing on technological innovations, environmental protections and sustainable development, deciphering domestic and foreign innovative and environmentally-friendly stage art production processes, showcased the latest innovations and works of the stage art industry, shared the experience and results of a perfect combination of the latest technology and art, contributed to building an important communication platform for domestic and foreign professionals, and promoted the standardized development of the industry and the formulation of standards.
