The Royal Ballet and The Australian Ballet are delighted to announce that 61 companies participated in the biggest #WorldBalletDay yet, streaming from six continents around the world.

Audiences took part in the largest ever global dance challenge, sharing a video of themselves performing a piece of choreography inspired by The Sleeping Beauty, as demonstrated by Royal Ballet Principal Anna Rose O’Sullivan. No ballet experience was necessary, and content was shared using #WorldBalletDay.

This year’s lineup featured 14 companies taking part for the very first time, including Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, Joffrey Ballet and The Washington Ballet. They joined a list of returning favourites: American Ballet Theatre, Paris Opera Ballet, National Ballet of Japan, Cape Town City Ballet and over 50 others. Exclusive content was available from select companies on TikTok, alongside full-length streams on YouTube and Facebook, offering unique behind-the-scenes glimpses of ballet’s biggest stars and upcoming performers.
